
Courses Outline:
Each course goes from 8:00am – 3:00pm (1 hour lunch)
UT course Level I – 3 days (18 hours)
UT course Level II – 5 days (30 hours)
MT course Level I – 3 days (18 hours)
MT course Level II – 3 days (18 hours)
PT course Level I – 3 days (18 hours)
PT course Level II – 3 days (18 hours)
VT course Level I – 3 days (18 hours)
VT course Level II – 3 days (18 hours)
Each course will provide instruction by:
- in classroom training (50 percent of the course) which includes modules with practice questions, example videos via internet, etc.
- hands on labs and training (50 percent of the course) which includes lab examples of calibration and inspection, as well as rejection/acceptance criteria on known defective parts

For all Methods (Each method has 1 manual for both Level I & II with the same course outline in each)
- Introduction/history of the particular method
- Basic Principles of the method
- Terms and Definitions
- Standard Equipment for the method
- Types of procedures for inspection
- Advantages and Disadvantages of the method
- Performance checks used for the method
- Specialized forms of the particular method
- Safety
- Preserving Indications
- Types of Discontinuities
- In Closing and in Review
At the end of each section there is a series of practice questions to be answered pertaining to that particular section.
Each of the 4 manuals have at least 60 pages of content

Testing, Grading, and Certification
Testing, Grading and Certification:
Testing
As per SNT TC-1A, for Level I & II certification the exams for each method shall have 3 parts:
1: General Exam - consisting of 30 – 50 multiple choice questions
2: Practical Exam - a detailed written procedure of how to inspect a designated part (Chosen by the instructor)
3: Hands on Exam – proper inspection of 2 parts (Chosen by the instructor) using two different methods of inspection of the particular method, including a acceptance/rejection criteria
Grading
The inspector shall have a cumulative score of 72% with no one score being below 65% on all 3 exams
Certification
Once the inspector passes all 3 exams, the instructor now issues a certification stating he has passed the particular training and exams.
The certificate must include:
- date of issue
- name of inspector
- name of company the inspector is employed by
- written practice and procedure # and latest revision date
- must state the inspector has successfully passed the given training and exam pertaining to the method
- signed by the instructor (with their ASNT # on the certificate)
- signed by management of inspector’s employer
- expiration date of certificate (3 – 5 years as per employer’s Written Practice + Procedure)
